Jerrold M. Post, M.D. is a professor of psychiatry, political psychology and international affairs at George Washington University. He founded and for more than two decades headed the U.S. Government’s Center for the Analysis of Personality and Political Behavior.
Dr. Post is coauthor with Robert S. Robins (Tulane University) of the book “Political Paranoia: The Psychopolitics of Hatred.”
On June 8, 2016 I was reading Dr. Post’s book on Political Paranoia when I came across the following observation. “The pairing group operates as if it were to produce a messiah or introduce a millenium. The discussion is future oriented but vague. The hope is that what is produced will save the group from intense feelings in the present. Such political revolutions as the French and Russian Revolutions have this quality.”
It was upon reading Dr. Post’s observation about pairing basic assumptions groups that it immediately clicked in my mind what The Dream of the Four Miltons is actually about! That is, birth –> Utopia.
I wonder what Dr. Post would make of my dream.
