Dr. Kernberg writes about the issue of envy in organizations: “Also related to narcissism is the leader’s potential envy of those of his fellows whom, because of his envy of their capacities, he perceives as more gratified by their functions than  he is — in particular, as more gratified in their dependency needs or their needs to be positively rewarded for their work.”

In mid-June 1988 David Called observed that I seemed to work very hard.

Is it possible my coworkers envied the gratification I got from my work,  that I seemed to be more gratified by my work than they were by their own work?   Perhaps David Callet could have said, “You look like you actually like doing this crap!”
