Dr. Bornstein:

I am familiar with your work on dependent personalities. It’s my sister’s view that I am a dependent person — that my mother enabled my dependency and never encouraged my independence. I created a brief outline of my personality pathology that I enclose in the attachment to this email. The MMPI did not disclose dependency (MMPI need for reassurances T = 56; MMPI need for autonomy T = 58). I thought you might have an academic interest in my case which combines the appearance of dependence with other significant psychopathology. My MMPI diagnosis was Personality Disorder not otherwise specifed with prominent schizoid, narcissistic, avoidant and depressive traits.
