in-search-of-lost-time

In a previous blog post I talked about a session I had with a previous psychiatrist, Abas Jama, M.D. He said that I spent too much time thinking about the past.  In the post I pointed out that an obsessive preoccupation with the past may be evidence of past trauma.

I recently came across the abstract of an article by Harold Blum, M.D. talking about this very issue. According to Dr. Blum Proust’s In Search of Lost Time is a creative transformation by Proust of childhood trauma.

My therapists insistently fail or refuse to see evidence of trauma in my personality. And that in itself is traumatizing!!
